Spotlight Protocol: Morpheus Network

PROTOCOL SPOTLIGHT REVIEW // MARCH 2019

SUMMARY

To remain competitive in today’s global economy, companies must be able to transport goods in a timely manner and for minimal cost, but achieving this goal is made difficult by rampant inefficiencies due the hurdles that coincide with international shipments and manufacturing. Morpheus Network estimates 2 trillion dollars were lost globally over the course of a year from banking fees, trading delays and currency conversion rates, all of which are indicative of a broken system. The Morpheus team surveyed 35,000 businesses and found that 90% of them relied on manual and handcrafted documents, which take more time to produce, can result in human error and are more costly to prepare when compared to automatically generated documents. Morpheus Network seeks to provide automated and efficient solutions via smart contract technology, which is capable of generating contracts, automating currency conversions, international payments and customs document creation.

OPPORTUNITY

TECHNOLOGY

The Morpheus Network platform utilizes a layered technology approach which promotes the integration of emerging technologies, legacy systems and established supply chain companies to create a full-service platform that is easy to use by the client. An example of the interoperability would be if Morpheus Network used Holochain’s DAPP facility, the smart contract was recorded by EOS, reconciliation is done by Ethereum, and the payment is processed by Stellar. This mix and match approach allows Morpheus Network to select the best implementation for individual use cases, while also ensuring the platform contains the most up-to-date technology available.  A unique component of Morpheus Network is its ability to incorporate legacy system into the platform, which makes it easier for existing enterprise to adopt the blockchain without having to drastically change the way they manage their operations. The integration of emerging technologies, legacy systems and established supply chain companies will result in the desegregation of global trade logistics by creating one immutable record of the entire shipment starting from raw material sourcing to payment fulfillment.

TOKEN UTILITY

The Morpheus Network Token (MRPH) has a value-based utility and is the key to accessing all of the features provided within the platform. The value of the MRPH token is based on the real-time financial derivative of whichever currency is selected to fulfill a payment. Morpheus Network’s integration with Bancor Protocol enables automatic conversion between MRPH and other digital currencies, which takes place entirely on the back-end to maintain the users’ simplified experience. With the integration of the SWIFT payment platform, AccessPay, the Morpheus Network platform also has the capabilities to interact with over 1,6000 banks globally to send or receive payments as executed by the smart contracts. The AccessPay integration dramatically improves how goods are transferred; scaling back inefficiencies, saving money, and bolstering economic growth in the process.

WHERE MORPHEUS IS HEADED

CONCLUSION

The global economy is in the midst of a fourth industrial revolution, coined Industry 4.0, which represents the integration of advanced manufacturing with IOT, cyber-physical systems, cognitive computing and cloud computing to create an interconnected and more efficient global supply chain. Morpheus Network is a flagship example of an Industry 4.0 solution and satisfies all four design principles of interconnection, information transparency, decentralized decisions and technical assistance. The blockchain agnostic approach, sidechain interoperability, and legacy technology integration offered by Morpheus Network will allow their platform to remain dynamic and support continual improvements offered by emerging technology. We believe Morpheus Network is poised to bridge the gap between emerging tech and existing enterprise systems, and potentially reshape global supply chain management.
